A fun craft to do with your kids – recycle old or new broken crayons by melting them in a muffin tin!

How to Recycle Your Broken Crayons
STEP 1: Preheat oven to 275.
STEP 2: Place, broken, unwrapped crayons (in any combo you like) in a muffin tin coated with cooking spray.
STEP 3: Oven at 275-waiting for crayons to melt.
STEP 4: Swirling melted crayons with a. toothpick or something similar. (we used corn-cob holders since that’s all we had on hand)
STEP 5: Put in the freezer to harden.
STEP 6: Pop them out when hardened.
STEP 7: Time to color!!!

I love your site. Recycled crayons are a great idea for bday party goody bags or class gifts. We just made them for my daughter’s class for a holiday gift (just make sure to label them “crayons”). I make them by melting them in a jar in the microwave, then pour them into candy molds. This way you can make different shapes, like stars.

My kids and I love this project. The biggest problem we have, though, is now the kids love to break the good, fresh crayons!!
